Family Support Stipends

With over 8,000 individuals with disabilities on the NJ DDD waiting list for community-based residential services, many of these persons remain at home until a placement becomes available. To help meet the needs of these individuals and families, they can receive a cash stipend up to about $2,400 from the State. Enable serves as the fiscal intermediary for issuing the stipends to over 200 families. DDD makes all determinations regarding eligibility and stipend amounts and sends this information and the funds to Enable. Enable issues the stipend checks, provides resource information, and monitors reports on use of funds. Families use this assistance to purchase equipment, assistive technology, specialized clothing, summer camp care, personal care or respite care.
