Residential Services Residential services through group homes and apartments provide a home and supportive services by staff usually involving 24-hour help. Enable’s group homes are shared by 3 to 5 persons usually of the same gender, each having their own bedroom. Vacancies rarely occur and some residents have been with Enable for 20 years. Everyone attends a day program or training program, may be involved in community activities during the day, or is employed in the community. In other words, Enable does not expect someone who lives in a group home to stay at home during the week days. The services are set up in a manner that helps individuals identify their goals and realize their hopes and dreams. Services and supports help develop skills that maximize a person’s self-sufficiency and independence. Supportive services are provided based on individual needs and, besides housing, may include assistance with daily living tasks such as cooking cleaning, laundry, banking; planning and transporting to recreational activities; fostering meaningful interpersonal relationships; assistance with obtaining medical care, therapeutic care and other needs; and linkages to work and volunteer opportunities. |
