Enable Opening Two Brick Township Group Homes

Groundbreaking begins in Brick Twp.

Enable Homes assumed ownership of two Brick Township properties in May. Demolition is underway to replace abandoned houses on the properties with two new group homes for people with developmental disabilities. Both single-level ranch-style houses measure 1,960 square-feet and have four bedrooms. They will be Energy Star certified and fully ADA compliant with accessible kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as fire alarm and suppression systems. Back patios and covered front porches complete these wonderful new homes. Residents may move in within eight to ten months

“The new Brick Township properties help fill the critical shortage of community homes for people with disabilities,” said Diana Kennedy, Chief Development Officer for Enable, Inc. “Enable partnered with the NJ Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HFMA), Brick Township, and the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities to make these homes a reality.”

Enable Homes LLC was founded in 2013 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Enable to acquire, own and manage properties serving Enable’s consumers. In October 2016, Enable Homes bought out mortgages held by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority on four group homes. With the addition of the Brick Township Homes, Enable Homes now owns eight Enable group homes.

“Home ownership allows Enable to better plan for the future, especially during the transition from contracts for operations to billing for fee for service,” said Sharon Copeland, Chief Executive Officer of Enable, Inc. “It strengthens Enable’s balance sheet and offers options for new development. Plans are under way to develop additional group homes in the coming year.”
