Enable, Inc. is working with the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities to set up a new group home in Somerset County. It's residents will be five men who are moving from State Developmental Centers to the community. We plan to open the home at the end of June 2006. The 4-bedroom home has wide hallways and two full baths with a finished basement that has a full door exit and stairway to the back yard. The living room/dining room has two beautiful bow windows and a fireplace. Only minor renovations are necessary to ready the home. It also comes with a garage and spacious back yard. Photos below show the front entrance , the rear of the home , a view through one of the bow windows , and a portion of the kitchen. |

About Enable
Enable helps individuals with disabilities live full and independent lives in our communities. Each person we serve has dreams, goals, and interests. All want to be safe, to live as independently as possible, to have friends, to enjoy recreational activities, to be a part of the community. Many are employed or work as volunteers. Enable helps make this happen.
Enable provides services, supports, and living arrangements to individuals with disabilities and their families throughout central New Jersey. Our top priorities are ensuring the safety of the individuals we serve, providing high quality services, and maintaining a good working environment. The parents and families of individuals with disabilities depend on Enable to be there for the lifespan of their family member. We intend to be there.
Who do we serve?
Enable serves individuals whose disabilities-are permanent or chronic;
-are physical or cognitive;
-cause difficulties with communication, self-care, mobility or ability to live independently;
-have occurred before the age of 65.
Since we receive funds from the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), some services are limited to persons eligible for DDD services. For DDD, the physical or mental impairment must be apparent before age 22 and be lifelong. This includes conditions such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, spina bifida, autism and other neurological impairments.
What services are provided?

Respite Options offers relief to family members who give round-the-clock care. It is provided in a variety of forms: in-home or out-of-home, by Enable staff or through financial assistance to a family to make its own arrangements.
